With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James E Hoort of Ionia, Michigan, who passed away on October 16, 2023 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, August Hoort and Jeanette Hoort; his sisters, Joyce Buning, Mary DeKoekKoek and Phyllis Hoort; and his great grandchild Everly.
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Michael Hoort (LaTonya), Michele Witbeck (Mark), Brian Hofkamp (Nicki), Melissa Champine (Scott) and Matthew Hofkamp; his grandchildren, Christopher (Heidi), Angus (Jessica), Emily (Justin), LaTaysha (Alex), Aryn (Brandon), Anika (Katie), Megan (Robert), Stephen (Kelsey), Kaylee and Alexis; his great grandchildren, Angus, LaTayana, Logan, Colton, KyeLynn, Owyn, Cora, Joey, Hudson, Valentina, Alexandria and Camden; and his sisters, Janice DenBesten and Eileen Hofstra (Henry).
In lieu of flowers, Jim has requested donations be made to the Ionia FFA or LeValley United Methodist Church.
