He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Vels and Ida Vels; his son Garrett of Portland, OR; his siblings, Sharon Dykstra (Tim) and Pete Vels (Laura); his nephews, Ben Dykstra (Bradi), Alex Dykstra of Bellingham, WA and Jonathan Vels (Kristen); his great-nephew Noah; and his great-nieces, Eleanor and Avy Dykstra.
