He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Merklinger and Lena Merklinger; his brother Harvey Merklinger; his grandson Landon Eadie; his niece Charmaine Beimers; and his nephew Kevin Merklinger.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, James Merklinger (Kim), Darci Salinas (Joe), Rick Merklinger (Krista), Kelly Davidson, Kimberly Edouard (Stevens) and Kerry Saenz (Richard); and his siblings, Carl, Orville (Barb), Art Merklinger (Sandy) and Carol Merklinger. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.
