Joan Arleen touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Alderink and Hermina Alderink; and her husband Gerald Tanis. She is survived by: her children, Pam Brown (David), Rich Tanis (Brenda), Theresa LeSarge (Doug), Joy Shula (Ken), Sarena Maiani (Joe) and Angie Hitts (Rich); her sister-in-law Betty Tanis; and her grandchildren, Nick (Hitomi), Madison, Jacob Brown, Travis, Hayden, Max Tanis, Hannah Haakinson (Elijah), Emily Wakeman (Forrest), Kelli Dornan (Jacob), Anna Nienhuis (Cody), Jonathan Shula (Holly) and Tanya LaBelle Shula (Jimmy). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, dear friends, and foster children.
