She was predeceased by: her parents, Lyle Holmes and Sylvia Holmes (Norwood); her former husband Robert VanderMeulen; her husband Frank Gilbert; and her brothers, Leonard Holmes and Max Holmes.

She is survived by: her children, Cheri Shears (Monte) of Fremont, Gary VanderMeulen (Cathy) and John VanderMeulen (Barb). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

“I'm so sad I can't attend the funeral. Thank you so much to her kids for letting me know when she was in the hospital. I am so glad I got to see her one last time before she passed. She was beautiful inside and out. Even though I'm not considered one of her 8 grandkids in the obituary, I'll always consider her my Grandma.”
