He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Purdy and Lillian Purdy; and his wife Burlett Purdy. He is survived by: his children, John Purdy (Cathy) of Grand Blanc and Diane Shaffer (Steven) of Clarkston; his sister Sherry Kirsch (Jon) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Casey, Ty (Jenna), Ahna, Jenna (Josh) and Leah; his great grandchildren, Hadley, Brave, Brantley, Aubriella, Brooklyn, Harper and Hudson; and his close friend Elaine Head. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Wounded Warriors or Compassion International.
