He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Harrell and Hazel Harrell (Sharon); his wife Lela; and his sons-in-law, Robert Rands and Mike Coots.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Rands, Robert Harrell (Wendy), Janice Coots, David Wayne Harrell, John Harrell (Julie) and James Harrell (Anne); and his siblings, Joe Harrell (Lucy), Jane Holt and Vira Myers. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.
