He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Franklin and Sarah Madeline Schmidt (VanSlambrouck); and his siblings, Robert and Susan. He is survived by: his wife Germaine Agnes Fabiszak; his children, Sandra Schmidt (Cristoforo Candela), Leon Schmidt, Gina Solem (Paul) and Patrick Schmidt (Laura Rocca); his grandchildren, Kaylene, Alexandra, Vanessa, Raeanne Candela, Isaac, Silja Schmidt, Tatiana, Austin, Jessica, Ethan Solem, Luca and Sara Schmidt; and his great grandchildren, Oliver Solem and Zander Mathews.
