She was predeceased by: her father Joseph G. Orta; and her brother Jesse D. Orta. She is survived by: her daughters, Ellen Hufnagel, Lezlie Cook (Chris) and Gayle Ericks; her grandchildren, Paul Holden (Anna), Audrey Simonetta (Joe), Jessica Holden, Victoria, Ava Ericks, Ty, Zane and Ayden Cook; her great grandchildren, Tyler (Catlyn), Ariana, Giana and Elliana; her great great grandchildren, Serenity and Melloday; and her siblings, Jane Wright (Bill) and Art Orta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association in memory of Lou Besonen, honoring her generous spirit and life long commitment to helping others.
