He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Lee, Sr. and Eleanor Cecile Meredith (Dinser); his stepfather Calvin Campbell; his son Shelby Lee "Skippy" Meredith, III; his granddaughter Caraline Rose; and his brother Bill Campbell.
He is survived by: his wife Janet S. Honeycutt; his daughters, Tara Keimer of Westland, Kelly Belcuore (Anthony) of Fenton, Thyra Carnes of Grand Blanc and Nedra Stafford (Nate) of Waterford; his grandchildren, Asya, Walter, Ashlee, Shaun, Ella, Madison, Daniel, Camerin and Samuel; his great grandchild Parker; his sister Charlotte Fields of South Carolina; his sister-in-law Lisa Campbell of Argentine; his nieces, Megan and Heather; and his nephew Bill.
