Richard Elwood Messel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Elwood Messel (Holly, Michigan), born in Pontiac, Michigan, who passed away on October 18, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his sister Pam Buell. He is survived by: his wife Betty Messel (Tinsman); his children, Christine Rhoades (Rob), Patrick Messel, Leigh Messel and Chad Messel (Andrea); his stepchildren, Bill Angus (Jane), Laurie Olson and Mike Angus (Dolores); his grandchildren, Meghan Palma (Michael), Andrew Rhoades, Hannah Van Wagoner (Ron), Erin Benson (Dale), Alexandria Reickel, Jacob McHalpine, Emily McHalpine, Brendan Messel and Jack Messel; his great grandchildren, Kaylee Palma, Bodhi Palma, Adalyn Jarrett, Madison Benson, Rowan Benson, Carson St. Clair and Connor Angus; his sister Diana Erickson (Michael); and also, Laura Hall (Eric), Sarah Angus, Steve Angus (Rachael), Jay Angus, Corey Angus, Christopher Angus (Shelby), Kyle Angus and Emily St (Corey). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 21st 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 22nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Dryer Funeral Home (101 N 1st St, Holly, MI 48442). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 22nd 2024 at the Lakeside Cemetery (860 Thomas St, Holly, MI 48442).
