She was predeceased by: her parents, Carrie Mae Binney (Hibler) and Joseph Henry Binney, Jr.; and her sister Mary Locke (Binney). She is survived by: her daughters, Karen Gilmore (Pritchett), Ann Pittman (Pritchett) and Vera Pritchett; and her granddaughters, Michelle Abbott (Gilmore), Kristen Williams (Gilmore) of Daniel Gilmore, A. J and Nichole Pittman. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in tribute to Joan to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
