He was predeceased by: his parents, Sally Meitz and Gerard J Murphy; and his siblings, Cynthia Welch (Mark) and Kevin Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte "Punk" Murphy; his daughter Margaret Murphy; his brother Dr. Timothy Murphy (Jenny); his pet Deuce; and also, Maureen Boyd (Michael) and Suzanne Taggart (Tad).
