He was predeceased by: his father Darrell Upson; his close friend Danny Dwyer; and his pet Lazer. He is survived by: his mother Florence Upson (Thompson); his sons, Chester and Brent (Brandi); his grandchildren, Emily VanNorman (Dale) and Paige Wilcox; his siblings, Andrea Martin (Chuck) and Nort (Maggie); his nieces and nephews, Sean Martin, Shane Martin (Kristin), Heather Kuzara (Tim), Emily Liebtag (Eric) and Ryan Upson (Melissa); and his close friends, Ron Laponsey and David Rajewski.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Pinconning Area Emergency Food Pantry (located at 314 Whyte Street, Pinconning, MI 48650) in Gary Upson's name.
