He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Earl Eugene Schmedlen and Rhoda Taylor; his brother Doug Schmedlen; his brother-in-law Thomas Thrasher; his nephew Nathan Schmedlen; his daughters, Dr. Rachael Schmedlen and Renee Hires (Justin); his sister Mary Lee Thrasher; his sister-in-law Rose Schmedlen; his former wife Louise Munich; and his grandchildren, Grace Hires, Catessa Hires, Maddock Hires and Jacob Hires. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
