He was predeceased by: his son Kevin Arthur Bruins; his parents, Clarence Bruins and Johanna Bruins; his parents-in-law, Rev. Arthur C. and Marian Johnson; and his sister-in-law Karin (Jay Dekker).
He is survived by: his brother-in-law Bill Hulst; his wife Marty; his children, Eric, Janette Bruins, Jen and Matt Viel; his daughter-in-law Emily (Steve Dyk); his grandchildren, James, Sydney Viel, Grace Bruins, Seth Viel, Trent Bruins, Lucy Bruins, Braden Dyk, Zane Bruins, Carter Dyk and Luke Bruins; his sisters, Edna Hulst and Arlene (John Strikwerda); and his siblings-in-law, Chuck, Mary Johnson, Colleen and Phill VanStedum. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
