It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Lawless of Holland, Michigan, born in Springfield, Illinois, who passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Ford and Ellen Ford (Patrick I. Lawless) of Springfield, IL; her daughter Colleen Day (Lawless) of Lake Forest, IL; and her daughters-in-law, Kristina Lawless (Ruthenbeck) and Sandy Lawless (Boersema-Elhart).
She is survived by: her son Mark Lawless of Allegan, MI; her grandchildren, Megan Lawrence (Mike) of Philadelphia, PA, Sarah Emmett (Nat) of Savannah, GA, Danny Lawless of Grand Rapids, MI, Kelly Stein (Rob) of New York, NY and Rick Day of Highwood, IL; and her great grandchildren, Murphy and Kieran Emmett of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Est Dykstra Funeral Homes Mulder Chapel (188 32nd St, Holland, MI 49423). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Est St. Peter Catholic Church (100 St Peters Dr, Douglas, MI 49406). A prayer was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (2001 N 1st St, Springfield, IL 62702).
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
