He was predeceased by: his daughter Karen Kools McLaughlin; his parents, Willis Kools and Jo Kools; his sister Elizabeth Parker; and his aunt Rena Boven.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his daughter Kristen Kulp; and his granddaughters, Kellie and Lauren Kulp.
