He was predeceased by: his siblings, Josephine, Henry, Joseph, Dale and William; and his grandson Christopher Dobbertien.
He is survived by: his children, Dr Mark Dobbertien (Lisa) of Jacksonville and Lisa DeBoer (Randall) of Holland, MI; his grandchildren, Ty DeBoer (Chelsea), Chelsea Gust (Shawn), Ryan Dobbertien, Matt Dobbertien (Megan) and Jeff Dobbertien; and his great grandchildren, Margot, Cecily, Clark DeBoer, Theodore, Clara Gust, Ruth and Emma Dobbertien.
