He was predeceased by: his parents, John Jr. Dyke and Ruth Van Dyke; his sister Charlene; and his brother-in-law Charles Armstrong. He is survived by: his wife Eleanor; his children, Merri Van Dyke (Jim Bader) and David Van Dyke; his grandchildren, Kailene, Karsten, Karina Bader Van Dyke, Krysta, Katya and Kamryn Van Dyke; his stepgrandson Quinton Bader (Kylie); and his daughters-in-law, Svetlana Martinez, Yuichi, Michiyo and Hiroyuki Kida of Tokyo, Japan.. He is also survived by his children, his grandchildren and their friends.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Third Reformed Church Music Ministry, The Third Reformed Church Mission Memorial Fund, or the American Heart Association.
