He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Sr. Bates and Clara Bates (Barnes); and his grandchildren, Kaden and Nahiya. He is survived by: his children, Charles Bates (Stephanie), Stacy Sandahl (Matthew) and Charlotte Bashaara; his siblings, Calvin Bates (Liz) and Deb Rose; and his daughter-in-law April Bates-Wilbur. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
