He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleon Lyon and Rachel Lyon (Hall); his brother Gary; and his son-in-law Robert Avery (Bob). He is survived by: his children, Denice Raymond (Arnie) of Ceresco, Jayann, Teresa Bailey of Coldwater and Jim Lyon (Bonnie) of Coldwater; his sister Barbara Goodwin (Al) of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Matt, Margie Avery, Shelly, Mark Niemann, Steven, Emily Lonsbury, Sarah, Brandon Sweet, Rachel, Devin Hagaman, Richard Bailey, Christina Holibough (Justin), Janet, Darin Hale, David Bailey, Alexandra Lyon, Kaylani Rubley Josh Rubley (Anna) and Kyler Rubley (Mallory); his former wife Deanna; and his close friend Fred.
