He was predeceased by: his siblings, Joyce Bishop, Darrell Spence, Daniel Spence and Darius Spence; and his son-in-law Paul Webster.
He is survived by: his parents, Herbert Sr and Thessie Spence Sr. (Davidson); his spouse Delores Jean Sanborn; his children, Lorinda "Lorin" Bertakis of Boca Rotan and Lyndell Spence of Hillsdale; his brother David Spence of Hillsdale; and his adoptive daughter Rita Webster of Reading. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society or Great Lakes Caring Hospice Foundation.
