He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Bernard Armstrong; his wife Nancy Bessen; his children, Angie Cusick (Steve), Dan Armstrong (Jackie) and Sarah Thurmond (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Robert, Kyle, David, Hannah, Rebekah, Levi, Jessikah, Aaron and Nathan; and his great grandchildren, Lilly, Mara and Dathan.
