He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie (Russell); his daughter Colleen Kay; his parents, Joseph Vernier and Amelia Vernier of Highland; his brother Wayne; and his grandchild Jordan Vernier.

He is survived by: his children, Joseph III (Persis) of Phoenix, AZ, Steven (Donna) of Phoenix, AZ, Lee (Diana) of Vidor, TX and Gail Hobart of Linden, MI.; and his siblings, Larry, Rodney, Shirley (Weik), Joyce (MacKenzie), Geraldine, Jerry, Rex, Lottie Mae (Portrey), Faye (Robert), Beverly (Cooper), David, Bruce, Cliff and Harvey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
