He is survived by: his wife Patricia Gilchrist (Love); his children, Roxanne Skaggs (Gilchrist), Boyd Michael Gilchrist (Maria), Belinda Newsom (Gilchrist) and John King; and his grandchildren, Melinda Kurtzo (Ainsworth), Richard, Hannah Hatcher (Ainsworth), Tyler Boyd Newsom, Kirsty, Alexa Powell (Newsom), Whitney McElmurry (Newsom) and Kevin. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
