He was predeceased by: his mother Luella Ames (Owen); his brother Mark Ames; and his grandparents, Roger Owen, Betty Ames (Denzel) and Charles Ames.

He is survived by: his father Brian Ames (Luella) of Higgins Lake; his son Owen Ames of Greenville; his brother Scott Ames (Randi Mae) of West Branch; his grandmother Janet Handrich of Fairview; and his aunts and uncles, Bonnie O'Delle (David) of Roscommon, Marcy Bringard of Colorado, Brenda McClusky (Michael McCowam) of Roscommon, Paula Handrich of Fairview, Lisa Merl (Rick) of Mio, Janice Willett (Bruce) of Roscommon, Ken Ames (Theresa) of Clare, Mike Ames (Debbie) of Mio and Darrell Ames (Betty) of Byron Center.

Due to the current pandemic the family has decided to do a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
