He was predeceased by: his siblings, Charles Dix, Robert Dix, David Dix and Dorothy Shutts; and his son-in-law Ed Lockwood.

He is survived by: his parents, David Dix and Etta Dix (Weber); his wife Beryl of Hesperia; his daughters, Carol Lockwood of Fremont and Delores Giroux of Maryland; and his grandchildren, Robert W. Howell Jr., Richard J. Howell (Rachel), Corey Giroux and B. J. Giroux. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
