It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nancy Schantz of Hastings, Michigan, born in Battle Creek, Michigan, who passed away on December 15, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Marian Shaw (Miller) and Newman Shaw; her granddaughter Rachel; her great grandchild Ryan; and her sisters, Kathleen Maurer, Norma Wallachez and Mary Kerjes.

She is survived by: her husband Victor Schantz Jr.; her children, Vince Schantz (Deanne VanPutten), Karen Rugg (Ed), Deb Czajowski and Kevin Schantz; her siblings, Pat Shaw, Marie Baynton, Marilyn Merchant (Ralph), Bill Shaw (Artha), Joe Shaw, Jim Shaw and Walt Shaw (Virgie); and her brother-in-law Juergen Wallachez. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Kidney Foundation.

“Nancy was a wonderfully strong, caring, loving woman who gave 110% to her family, friends and patients. She exemplified what a truly compassionate nurse should be while caring for her patients at Thornapple Manor! She truly loved nursing! The only thing she loved more than nursing and caring for her patients was her family! Nancy had a huge heart when it came to her family, whenever needed she would go help anyone of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She will be missed!”
