He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Cottrell and Etta Cottrell (Deeter); his wife Edna Cottrell; his children, Kenneth Smith and Debbie Smith; his son-in-law Edward Zettler; and his sister Eileen Chasteen.
He is survived by: his children, Leroy Smith of Harrison, Lilly Warner (Dennis) of Battle Creek, Cindy Zettler of Brownstown, Stanley Smith (Kim) of Harrison, Richard Cottrell of Branson, MO, Shawn Benedict (John) of Evart, Shelly Mark (Myron) of Hersey and Robert Cottrell (Erin) of Harrison. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
