She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerrit William Oomen and Mary Oomen (VanAelst); her son Dale Carey; and her siblings, Lillian Oomen, Francis Oomen and Gerald Oomen.

She is survived by: her spouse Edson Carey Sr.; her sons, Edson Carey Jr. (Neal) of Birch Run and James Carey (Cheryl) of Fairgrove; her daughter-in-law Jane A. Carey of Harrison; and her niece Pat.
