He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Evens and Lucile Evens (Votaw); his siblings, Richard, Donald, Max Evens and Mildred Tepsa; and his parents-in-law, Paul Peterson, Bernard Tepsa, Maxine Evens and Dotty Evens.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Fortelka; his children, Patrick Long (Angie) of Mesick, Deborah Stanton (Phillip) of Mesick, Brenda Thornton (Edward) of Roscommon and Lisa Schiller (Jeffrey) of Thompsonville; and his sister Helen Peterson of Iron Mountain. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the South Branch Township Fire Department or to Hospice of Michigan.
