He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. A. F. and Marjorie Litzenburger; and his siblings, Albert Litzenburger and Louise "Teedee" Litzenburger. He is survived by: his former spouse Cameron Reycraft; his wife Dianne Litzenburger (Murray); his children, Gow Litzenburger and Liesel; his son-in-law Hank Meijer; his grandchildren, Cali and Hardy; his niece Heather Watt; his siblings-in-law, Sue Litzenburger (Albert) of Boyne City and James; his nephews, Matthew and John; his sister-in-law Pam (Murray); his niece Michelle (Robbie Kerback); his nephew Keith Dean; his sister-in-law Lora Murray (late John Murray); his nephew Sean Murray; his siblings-in-law, Nancy (Murray) and David Noel; his nieces, Natalie (Reede Copeland) and Paige Noel; and also, Cameron O'Keefe and Susan (Murray).

He won numerous awards and served on the boards of the Emmet-Charlevoix Bar Association, American Red Cross, Emmet County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce.
