He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Schelke and Elizabeth Schelke (Golding); and his parents-in-law, John, Eleanor Adler, William "Bill" Klump and Arthur Tank.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Messing (Adler); his children, Kelly Block (Kevin) and Brad Schelke; his stepchildren, Tammy Roberts (Brian) and Tim Messing (Tia); his grandchildren, Ethan, Nolan, Kelsey, Owen Block, Austin, Makayla, Brendan Roberts, Shelby and Blake Messing; his siblings, E. Lea Schelke, Laurel Hicks (Jim), Ann Tank, Richard Schelke (Guylyn), Jack Schelke (Phyllis), Jill Terrill (Mike) and Don Schelke (Tamie); his parents-in-law, Ron, Ruth Ann Adler, Jerry, Kathy Adler, Jim and Jan Adler; and his pet Snickers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his special friends.
