He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Gaffke and Clara Gaffke (Schubring); and his siblings, Gertrude Selbig, Earl and Orville Gaffke.
He is survived by: his wife Irma; his sister Edna Cardwell of Marion Indiana; his daughter Sandra Welch (Charles) of Portola Valley, CA.; his grandchildren, Samantha Welch, Angel Garza Gaffke, Erin Welch, Trenton Villavicencio, Jose Gaffke, Julian Gaffke and Joel Gaffke Jr.; and his stepgranddaughters, DeAnna Wruble and KayLee Butler. He is also survived by 9 Great Grandchildren.
