He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Poyhonen and Wilhelmina Poyhonen (Tapani). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Poyhonen; his children, Susan Sturos (Peter), Amy Pietila (Thomas), Peter Poyhonen (Julie), Paul Poyhonen (Kristine), Barbara Pietila (Wesley) and Tim Poyhonen42; and his sister Ruth Jurmu. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
