He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Herres and Margaret Herres (Lehman); his sister Mary Margaret; his brother-in-law Ron Hatcher; his parents-in-law, Myron and Mary Smith; his brother-in-law Bob Smith; his uncle Gerald Lehman; and his sister Barbara Herres.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Smith; his children, Julie Rimpela (Brian) and Lauren Britz (Chris Clark); his granddaughters, Sophie and Katie Britz; his great grandchild Dalton; his children, Jacob Herres and Sondra Marciniak (Erwin); his grandchildren, Asher, Adi and Theo; his children, Jessica Masters and Kelsy Masters (Ethan Debelak); his grandchild Josie; his children, Andrew Sager (Jordan), Michael Sager and Jenni Runfroe (Justin); his grandchild Jonah; and his nieces and nephews, Dan Ball and Jerry Ball (Holly). He is also survived by Several nieces nephews and cousins.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department in memory of John C. "Blackie" Herres.
