With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gloria Karppinen (Hancock, Michigan), who passed away on September 4, 2019 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Hamina and Hilma Hamina (Lasanen); her husband Robert Karppinen (Bob); her sister Virginia Soumis; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Pyykkonen, David Weisbach and Walter Soumis.
She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Karppinen (Ray Ellison) of Lansing, Denise McNutt (Donald) of Silver City and Diane Nystrom (Jim) of Charlevoix; her niece Susan Ruby of Hancock; her grandchildren, Daniel Ruzgis (Brian VanSickle), Kristina Anderson (Traywick), Lauren Harris (Bryant), Megan McNutt, Shannon Klonowski (Edward) and Jordan Nystrom (Monica); her great grandchildren, Trinity, Luna Anderson, Edward and Alexander Klonowski; and her sisters, Agnes Pyykkonen, Elaine Weisbach, Victoria Reynolds (William), Helen Swisher and Arlene Ensley (William). She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
