He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Elena Gonzalez and Porfirio Plata; and his uncle Rene Gonzalez. He is survived by: his parents, Santiago Plata and Mary Plata (Gonzalez); his close friend Christina Mason; his son Jaidan Plata; his brother Juan Carlos; his grandparents, Gonzalo Gonzalez and Beatriz Plata; his aunts and uncles, Maricela Varma (Rajiv), Oscar Plata (Alicia), Marta Ramirez (Rogelio), Noelia Montanez (Alfred), Lionel Plata (Sylvia), Veronica Hanzak (John), Gonzalo Gonzalez (Lorri), Nellie Highsmith (Troy), Sylvia Garza (Jose Luis), Ricardo Gonzalez (Josephine), Diana Gonzalez (Carlos) and Ruben Gonzalez (Yvette); and also, Jena, Aubrianna and Conner.
He continues his family's legacy of organ donation as he himself was a "Gift of Life" donor.
