He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kovar and Rose Kovar; his wife Betty Richmond Kovar; and his sons, Alan Taup and Mike Kovar.

He is survived by: his children, Roxanne Corbett, Linda Wengenger, Billy Kovar, Steve Taup, Eddie Kovar and Mary Ellen Hall. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
