He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward C. Heckman and Lucille R. Heckman; and his siblings, Maxine Wallace, James Harris, Barbara Whitney, Shirley Rayner and Rose Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Heckman; his children, David Heckman (Angie) of Traverse City, MI and Karen Hopkins (Richard E. Vaden) of Oscoda, MI; his grandchildren, Tiffany Smith (Tyler), Brittany Knapp (Derek), Aaron Heckman (Destiny), Calub Hopkins (Cynthia), Montana Drewery and Chaz Hopkins; his great grandchildren, Jake, McKenna, Oakleigh and Anastasia; and his sister-in-law Gloria J. Yorks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 26th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Buresh Funeral Home - Tawas City (416 Whittemore St, Tawas City, MI 48763). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 26th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
