He was predeceased by : his parents, James Sweeney and Mary Kathleen Sweeney (Boegner); his son Jim Sweeney; his grandson Rocky Sweeney; and his sisters, Barbara Pack and Mary Sweeney Butzier.

He is survived by : his wife Phyllis Sweeney; his children, Patrick Sweeney (Richene) of Lapeer, Jeffrey Sweeney (Kelly) of Metamora and Shelly Cross (John) of Goodyear, AZ; his grandchildren, Reann, Rachelle, Randilyn, Joshua, Kaine and Presley; his great grandchildren, Emmett, Elliott, Evan, Blake, Ryan, Zoe, Oliver, Max, Evelyn, Kody, Fiona, Caitlyn and Gary; and his siblings, Edna Mae Sierakowski of Hadley, Thresa Brady of Gaines and Pat Sweeney (Barbara) of Hadley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
