He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry and Elsie; his wife Louise L. Brandt; his daughter Cheryl Zdenek; and his brothers, Armin "Bud" Brandt, Edwin "Mick" Brandt and Eldon "Bill" Brandt.
He is survived by: his children, Howard Brandt, Jr. (Debi) and Vicky McClusky (Ken); his son-in-law Randy Zdenek; his grandchildren, Randy Brandt (Lisa), Kristin Potestivo (Craig), Sean Brandt (Chelsea), Luke Harrison-Zdenek (Genevieve), Kara Zdenek and Kenny McClusky (Shannon); and also Clara Switzenberg. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
