She was predeceased by: her parents, Curtis Carmichael and Bernice Carmichael; and her brothers, David S. Carmichael and Curtis Carmichael, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband John R. Parnell; her sons, John R. Parnell, Jr. (Jennifer) and David S. Parnell; her grandson Jack R. Parnell; and her siblings, Lucy Carmichael Milner, Terrence Carmichael (Birgit) and Denise Carmichael. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.
