He was predeceased by: his close friend George McDonald; his brother Milton Martin; his wife Loris; his parents, Richard Martin and Reva Martin; his sister Eleanor; his brother-in-law Glenn Munger; his nephew Rodney Munger; his siblings, Charles Martin and Phyllis Martin; his sister-in-law Aleta Martin; and his son-in-law Dr. Brian Helmer.

He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Carlson (Jon Oberlin) of Lakeview, Marcella Snowaert (Steve) of Marquette, Bonnie Zuidewind (Mike) of Gowen, Jerry Martin of Ithaca, Carolynne Martin (Dan Rearick) of Warren, Daniel Martin (Jennifer) of Greenville, Larry Beardslee (Patti) of Wisconsin, Paul Beardslee of Clio and George McDonald III (Judy) of Ionia; his grandchildren, Kami Mayer, Benjamin Carlson (Melissa), Kc Moore (Zach), Jordan Oberlin (Jessica Borema), Jakeb Oberlin (Mindy Mendyka), Joesiah Oberlin, Ryan Poulsen (Maria), Daniel Helmer, Kristen Miller (Jon), Kylie Bunting (Lee), Katie Helmer, Brian Helmer, Kaire Wilde (Scott), Kendra Daggett (Kyle), Bradlee Zuidewind (Bailey Dunbar), Kaleigh Hamilton (Alex), Parker Martin, Amber Osborne, Andrea Boulis, Brandon Osborne (Amber Kibler), Amber Steele (Josh), Erin Willett (Bobby) and Andrew Finch; and his siblings-in-law, Martin Drabek (Barbara) and Clara Martin. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren with two additional great-granddaughters.
