He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hamel and Bernice Hamel (Patterson); and his siblings, Dorothy Sims, Burton Hamel and Marilyn Bosley.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his stepchildren, Dennis (Beth Hamel), Darrel (Rebecca Hamel), Leslie Hamel-Alleyne of Orlando and Lindsay (Mike Dekker); his stepgrandchildren, Michael Hamel of Comstock Park, Kate and Nate Bailey of Essexville; and his stepchildren, LuChina Robertson of Orlando, Raya Hamel-Alleyne, Ari Hamel-Alleyne of Orlando, Zachary Hamel, Amelia Hamel of Eagle River, William Dekker and Anna Dekker of Greenville.
