He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Arthur Cook and Anne Cook; his siblings, William, Anne and Art; his wife Dee; his children, Jeffrey and Leslie; and his grandchildren, Anne, Peter and Emma.

Byron was also a founding member of the Greenville Area Community Foundation and its inaugural Chairman.
