He was predeceased by: his parents, Elam "Chet" Hiatt and Judy Hiatt (Herring); and his siblings, Chester Hiatt and Bonnie Stevens. He is survived by: his children, Starr Dunlap, Kaliska Hiatt and Jeremiah Hiatt (Amanda); his grandchildren, Jennifer Alvarado, Christian Huggins and Naomi Hiatt; and his siblings, Connie Naquin, Rita Jane (Russ), James Robert Hiatt and Judy Scott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
