He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Welt and Shirley Welt (Poet); his former wife Marion; his wife Marie Welt; his grandson James Dylan Lauterwasser; and his siblings, Dan and Sue.

He is survived by: his children, Marion "Mimi" Welt-Smith, Kimberly Lauterwasser (Kevin), Donald Jeffries (Beverly), Ronald Jeffries, Timothy Jeffries (Melissa), Michael Welt (Kerry), Tina Jeffries and Vicki Wygonik (Ronald). He is also survived by 22 Grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
