He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Austin and Ethel Austin; his brother David Austin; his siblings-in-law, Barbara Austin and Dale Kent; and his great-grandparent Frank.

He is survived by: his wife Esther Austin; his siblings, Jim Austin (Janice), Lila Green (Vernon) and Joyce Kent; his sister-in-law Vicky Kooienga; his daughters, Linda Poehl (David), Judith Schutter (Paul) and Susan Bremer (Jim); his grandchildren, Jessica Stogsdill (Chris), Jonathan Poehl (Christina), Jared Poehl (Alexandria), James Schutter, Mitch Schutter (Lexi), Kaitlin Moulds (Adam) and Megan McCluer (Adam); and his son Ezra "Charles".
